Wearing a dress makes me feel femininE and sexy

Month of May was founded in Singapore in 2018 by Rikke May - a Danish fashionista living far away from home, but with the urge to create something that’s for everyday use. The idea behind the brand comes from Rikke´s personal love for dresses and the opportunity it gives to dress it up and down depending on what your day brings. She would wear sneakers to work but always have a leather jacket and a pair of heels in her bag, so she could be ready for a night out. On a busy day as a mother she could go from mommy-tired to glam in a flash. And that’s how it always should be like when you get dressed for any occasion - Easy!

I DON’T LIKE IT WHEN ANYTHING IS TOO TIGHT - IT CAN RUIN MY WHOLE DAY. AS MY FRIEND ONCE TOLD ME ‘YOU ARE ALWAYS SO COMFY’ AND THAT MIGHT BE THE KEYWORD TO MY PERSONA. I LIKE TO BE ‘CASUAL-COMFY-CHIC’ EVEN WHEN I GO OUT. WHO WANTS TO WEAR TIGHT JEANS WHEN YOU CAN WEAR A DRESS?

The idea behind the brand

Rikke´s dad loved when she wore dresses - he would always say ‘you look so lovely dear’. He sadly passed away in March 2018 and it gave her heart the spark to create something she knew he loved but also would have made him proud. Trying to come up with a name was very challenging because it needed meaning. All 3 generations of her family (mom and daughter) share the same middle name ‘MAY’ and her dad’s favorite month of the year was May. That was the month where he would go fishing and all the activities that he loved would unfold when the lovely Danish summer would show its face after a cold, long, dark winter. That's how she came up with the name ‘Month of May’. A dedication to family, to love and to her daddy.
